[C] 7D6N SAMBOJA LODGE & TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK Tour Program (ex-Balikpapan)
Day 01 BALIKPAPAN - SAMBOJA LODGE - SUN BEAR SANCTUARY (L,D)
 Fly from Jakarta to Balikpapan Airport. Upon arrival meet our staff and proceed to Samboja Lodge by car. Check in at Samboja Lodge, and then visit the orangutan island, sun bear sanctuary project. This area was developed since 2002 as the re-forestation project and conservation area including the rehabilitation of the orangutan, sun bear & gibbons. In the afternoon about 16.00hrs, visit the black river to observe the rainforest plants, birds, and long nose monkeys (Proboscis monkey / Nasalis Lavartus). Evening about 18.00hrs return to Samboja Lodge for your dinner and overnight.
SAMBOJA ECO-LODGE - SUN BEAR SANCTUARY & ORANGUTAN ISLAND
A new venture for The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) is the construction of our Samboja Lodge facility. Here, for the first time, visitors and volunteers will be able to work closely with us in the many projects currently active in Samboja Lestari in aid of saving our rainforests and the orangutan.
The Lodge's unique design is based on local architecture. All interior and exterior walls are made of recycled materials. The Lodge is surrounded by lush vegetation and each room has its own patio or balcony for our guest to enjoy the greenery. The glass doors can fold open allowing you to choose between having a barrier to nature, and being completely open to it! The area around the Lodge has been planted with many indigenous tree species, flowers and fruiting trees. There is also a salt lake, which attracts many animals right beside the Lodge.
Day 02 TREE PLANTING - CANOPY BRIDGE - BALIKPAPAN - BANJARMASIN (B,L,D)
After breakfast, join us for a plant-a-tree-program to save the planet from the global warning. The fruit tree planted will also supply food in the future for the Orangutans and others wildlife. Then proceed to Bukit Bengkirai to explore the Canopy Bridge, and see the panorama of the tropical rainforest of Borneo.
You may also do some short trails. In the afternoon transfer to Balikpapan Airport to catch your flight to Banjarmasin/South Kalimantan. Upon your arrival at Syamsuddinnor Airport Banjarmasin, meet with our guide who will escort you to hotel in Banjarmasin. Check in and free and easy. At 17.30hrs we will bring you for a canal tour, to see local activities at the bank of Kelayan River. Back to hotel and at 19.30hrs, have dinner at Local restaurant. Back to hotel for overnight.
Day 03 FLOATING MARKET - PANGKALAN BUN (B,L,D)
Early morning at 05.30hrs, we will be taking you for a morning boat ride using the traditional boat "Klotok" to visit the Floating Market in Barito River. Here you will see the traditional market place where buyers and sellers of foods and vegetables using small traditional canoe called "Jukung". Have a cup of coffee or tea at the floating Café called "Rombong". About 08.30hrs back to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will escort you to the airport to catch flight leaving for Pangkalan Bun. Upon your arrival in Pangkalan Bun airport, our staff will pick you up and transfer you to the Pangkalan Bun Hotel.
BANJARMASIN FLOATING MARKET
The Floating Market of Banjarmasin is a traditional market at the estuary of the Kuin river, a tributary of the Barito. From daybreak boats come from villages around the rivers Tabuk, Jelapat, Anjir and Selapat, bringing vegetables, fruits and other daily needs and household utensils. Buyers and sellers come to the market in small boats and close their transactions on the water. All daily needs can be obtained at this market.
As the day proceeds, the atmosphere becomes more cheerful. The number of buyers increase, and more boats gather. At a little past noon, the market quiet down. The now empty boats leave. The number of buyers dwindles, and finally everything is quiet again on the river. The best time to see market in action is in the early morning, between 6 a.m and 7 a.m.
Day 04 KUMAI - SEKONYER RIVER (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer to Kumai Port to board the Klotok up the Sekonyer River. The Klotok is a traditional river boat about 6m by 2m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the tropical rain forest. We will slowly explore the quite river by Klotok while observe the wildlife along the riverside. Overnight on boat.
Day 05 CAMP LEAKEY ORANGUTANS (B,L,D)
After breakfast, board the klotok to cruise up river for about 2 hours. On the way to Camp Leaky you can observe river ecology and wildlife. Trek into the heart of the jungle and observe orangutans in their natural habitat. Lunch provided on the boat. Afternoon, visit the feeding station to see the rehabilitated orangutans. Enjoy a magnificent sunset on the way back. After dinner overnight on boat.
Day 06 PONDOK TANGGUY ORANGUTANS - LOCAL VILLAGE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will travel up the river by boat to search for more wildlife. Visit Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans. Proceed to Pesalat station to experience reforestation daily activities and learn about the famous 'iron wood'. Lunch on the boat. Afternoon we will proceed to the traditional village of Tanjung Harapan for short trekking to see pure villager activities. Enjoy natural river view on the way back, take dinner and overnight at Rimba Lodge.
Day 07 KUMAI - PANGKALAN BUN - NEXT DESTINATION (B)
After early breakfast, we will escort you back to Kumai Jetty then proceed to Pangkalan Bun Airport to catch the flight for your next destination.
