Day 01 Miri Arrive in Miri and transfer to Miri Marriot Hotel. Day at leisure, relax on the swimming pool or explore the city. Overnight. Day 02 Mulu Caves (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Morning transfer to airport and fly to Mulu MH 3630 0920hrs / 0950 hrs. On arrival, transfer to Royal Mulu Resort. After lunch proceed to visit Deer Cave & Lang Cave. Wait for the exodus of thousands of bats on their nightly feeding forays. Trek back to the Park HQ by torchlight. Return to Royal Mulu Resort. Day 03 Headhunters Trail (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) After breakfast, depart up-river and stop at Clearwater & Wind caves on the way. After visiting the caves, continue for Long Litut by longboat (1½ hours). After lunch, trek to Camp 5 (2½ hours). The time estimated depends on the water level. Overnight at Camp 5. Day 04 Mulu Limestone Pinnacles / Melinau Gorge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) After breakfast, stroll the surrounding jungle on the headhunter's trail. Return to Camp 5 for lunch. Later in the afternoon, proceed to Melinau Gorge (about 1 hr although not advisable in bad weather). Overnight at Camp 5. Alternatively, hike to the Mulu Limestone Pinnacles (1175 m). The climb takes about 3 - 4 hours for a physically fit person. Pitcher plants and orchids line the way. Return to Camp 5 fot overnight stay. Day 05 Iban Longhouse (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Trek to Kuala Terikan (5 hours). Proceed down river by boat to Rumah Penghulu Sigah or Rumah Bala Lasong, an Iban Longhouse. The journey takes about 2 - 3 hours - depending on the water level. Overnight in the longhouse. Day 06 Nanga Medamit / Limbang / Miri (Breakfast, Lunch) Depart Rumah Penghulu Sigah or Rumah Bala Lasong by boat to Nanga Medamit. Then proceed to Limbang town (1 hour) by van. Fly to Miri MH 3479 1655 hrs / 1525 hrs, transfer to Miri Marriot Hotel. Day 07 Miri / Kota Kinabalu (Breakfast) Fly to Kota Kinabalu, transfer to the hotel. Free time at leisure for shopping. Overnight. Choice of hotel in Kota Kinabalu: 3*Imperial | 4* Hyatt Regency | 5* Le Meridien Day 08 Mount Kinabalu (Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner) Pick up early morning from your Kota Kinabalu city hotel for a two-hour overland drive to the beautiful Kinabalu National Park. Upon arrival at Mt. Kinabalu Park, you will check in at the Park's office, and then the real adventure starts as you will continue to the Power Station by coach for the start of our 2-day climb of mighty Mount Kinabalu. Commence your climb of magnificent Mount Kinabalu, at 4100 m the highest mountain in Malaysia. The beautiful clim takes approximately four hours to Laban Rata which is situated at an altitude of 3,353 m. It will take you from tropical luxuriance through oak forest to the rocky sub-alpine summit plateau, with many unique trees and flowers to be seen on the way. Check into Pendant Hut and proceed for via ferrata familiarization. Relax and enjoy the spectacular mountain lanscape. Dinner and overnight at Pendant Hut. Day 09 Mount Kinabalu (Breakfast) wake up very early at 2am and commence your ascent by torchlight towards the summit. The climb takes about three hours but is well rewarded with a beautiful sunrise at approximately 6 am (weather permitting). Descend down and begin Via Ferrata Walk the Torq (duration 2 - 3 hours, length of via ferrata is 430 m). 1000 hrs return to Pendant Hut, check out and descend to the Power Station from where you transfer to the Park's Headquarters to collect your climb certificate. Transfer to Poring Hot springs for overnight. Day 10 Sepilok Orang Utan (Breakfast, Lunch) After breakfast, drive overland easterly to the district of Sandakan. The drive will take 4 hours passing through scenic countryside. Upon arrival at Sepilok, check into Sepilok Nature Resort. After lunch, transfer to the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Proceed to the free roaming areafeeding platform. 1500 hrs Feeding of Orang Utangs. At this center, observe man's closest relative "the Orang Utan" being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. 15:30 hrs guided walk in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve (1 hr 30 mins). Return to Sepilok Nature Resort. Overnight. Day 11 Kinabatangan River (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) You will be collected from Sepilok Nature Resort and transferred to Sandakan jetty for an hour boat cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary where you will take your lunch at Abai Jungle Restaurant. This is a wonderful journey of discovery which starts from the waters of Sulu Sea of Sandakan Town through a magnificent scenery of the Mangrove Forest. After lunch, cruise up river to Sukau village in search of primates especially the Endemic Proboscis Monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. Arrive Sukau, check in at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon, an option to take another river cruise with electric motor to Menanggul River, a small tributary of the Kinabatangan. Return lodge for dinner and overnight at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Day 12 Kinabatangan River (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Wake up by the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Early morning, take a river trip to the Ox-Bow Lake to observe wildlife and experience the early morning ambience of Sabah's longest river. Return lodge for breakfast - free at own leisure. After lunch, late afternoon, another river cruise to search for more wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Day 13 Sandakan / Onward (Breakfast, Lunch) After breakfast, river cruise down by boat back to Sandakan. Another chance for wildlife sightings with this approximately 2.5 hours journey. upon arrival at jetty, drive up hill to the Puh Jih Syh Chinese Buddhist Temple, which offers a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay, After lunch, transfer to airport for your flight back / next destination.
